Author Rachel Syers has enjoyed a varied career in professional journalism for the past 30 years, involving some of Australia and the world’s most talked about people and events.

A graduate in Journalism and Arts from the University of Queensland, Rachel spent nearly two decades in the busy newsrooms of the Gold Coast Bulletin and Tweed Daily News in roles from news reporter, sub-editor, columnist and feature writer to a colourful decade as fashion editor. 

In a leap of faith to grow her family, Rachel began a freelance writing journey which led to a decade as freelance writer for national and international media organisations including Time Inc., News Custom Publishing and Pacific Magazines. In her 10 years as WHO Magazine Special Correspondent, Rachel built an extensive portfolio of articles on crime and justice, current affairs, international news events and entertainment. 

She is the winner of two Gold Coast media awards, co-founder of the Coral Sea Media company and this is her second book. Rachel grew up in the Melbourne suburbs of Eltham and Greensborough, until moving  to the Gold Coast in the 1980s where she still lives, now as a mother of three Gold Coasters of her own.
